Scale Olympics

On December 4, ten of my students participated in Scale Olympics 2010 at the Conservatory of Music, Otterbein College, Westerville, Ohio. What an event!

Olympians can enter up to eight events: scales, cadences, arpeggios, triads, transposition, sight-reading, harmonization and theory. Ribbons are awarded for each event, with the top honors being the Blue or Yellow Rosettes. Rosettes are only awarded to students who enter and demonstrate they have mastered all eight events. All of my students received a Rosette.  I am so proud of them.

407 students from the greater Columbus area registered for the event.  Yours truly was once again the Chairman.  This is a huge event to administer, and it is only successful because of the support received from our community and our members.  Our heartfelt thanks goes to Otterbein College for once again being our host.  And my personal thanks go to the 70+ teachers, parents and friends who helped the day of.

Congratulations, Olympians!
